This project explores the iconography of philosophy. It concentrates on the iconography of the Consolatio philosophiae (hereafter Consolatio), a philosophical work written by the late ancient philosopher Boethius. A corpus of these iconographic images will be digitised for the prometheus image archive. Taking into account the caesura within the iconography, so-called “original images” will be selected. The selection will be indexed in terms of the extent to which one can speak of thinking in images based on such “image protocols.”
